Operating and maintaining landfill facilities is a costly and contentious issue for most local government authorities. So too is the high cost of fuelling fleet vehicles, machinery and equipment. CDP Waste2Energy technology provides solutions that bridge economic and environmental priorities by diverting the thousands of tonnes of waste collected daily away from landfills and into a renewable fuel.

Currently the landfill diversion rate in some Australian states is as low as 40% – CDP Waste2Energy projects can double this standard and enable local governments to achieve a waste diversion from landfill rate of up to 80% by 2021.

Remote & regional
communities

Technology to deal with waste in geographically remote locations, while facilitating regional energy security

Communities, public authorities and governments around the world face persistent challenges in effectively managing waste in remote and environmentally sensitive locations.

Until recently, the only practical solution, particularly for remote communities and small island nations, has been to export waste. This has continued to give rise to a myriad of issues including local and recipient environmental impacts, quarantine and containment issues and transport costs.

CDP Waste2Energy’s technology provides options that can address these issues while also reducing or eliminating the excessive economic and environmental cost of importing diesel for local electricity generation.

Production volumes can be managed to meet fuel demand for vehicles and equipment, thereby reducing imported diesel quotas or, where sufficient production volumes can be maintained, eliminating the need to import diesel completely. Using ‘next step’ processes, excess diesel may be converted to electricity as an independent “off-grid” energy source.
